Hi-Vis – Be Seen, Be Safe This Winter

Be seen and be safe as clocks go back – it’s Hi-vis time of year again!

Hi-Vis workwear for those long, dark, northern Cumbrian nights

Hi-vis in the workplace

Hi-Vis Jackets and workwear are essential if your staff are going to be seen clearly at work and that’s important for all sorts of companies in the autumn and winter months.  Whether your staff are travelling to work in dark, working on site at dawn or dusk or leaving site in the darker evenings, they need to be seen, to be safe and we’re happy to work with businesses to come up with options that fit with your other embroidered workwear packages.

hi-vis vest. Safety workwear for staff who need quick on and quick off visibiity at work.

Hi-Vis Waistcoat with reflective strips. ideal for quick on / quick off situations in the dark Cumbria winters.

High visibility at Stitch & Print isn’t just about the basic traffic jackets, bomber jackets and vests either – although we have a great selection of those to meet most business needs.  Stitch & Print also carry a range of Hi-Vis sweatshirts, Hi-Vis hoodies, and bodywarmers, available with long or short sleeves as well as a range of colours, and we’re in the business of personalising and branding those with print or embroidery too.

Whatever the needs of your workforce in the winter months, we can come up with options that fit into your standard workwear packages.

Our range of high visibility workwear includes a full range of motorway coats, bomber jackets, bodywarmers, 3-in-1 jackets , 4-in-1, 5-in-1 even some 7-in-1 jackets, – those are the ones with the zip-in fleece liner that can be worn separately to add weather dependent options to your wardrobe – and we have over trousers too, to keep your work force seen, dry and warm even in the most extreme weather.

WR002 Warrior Daytona Hi Vis Polo Shirt

“I’m not sure whether people just want to be sure or we’ve got some really hardy individuals working outdoors across Cumbria,” says Richard Mattinson of Stitch & Print, “but we’ve even been asked about enhanced visibility Polo Shirts and T-Shirts at strange times of the year; That’s OK throughout summer, but on a site on Shap Fell – in January?  We’ve supplied these embroidered with company logos as part of our business workwear packages but I do wonder how many people then sneakily cover  them up with a hi-vis jacket or fleece to “keep the cold out!”

Another trend in hi-vis clothing and workwear is headwear – hats to you and me.  Fluorescent yellow and fluorescent orange caps & beanie hats with reflective materials on the brim are proving popular and the same sort of approach is also being designed into bump caps and safety hard hats too.

“While our clients in the construction industry, builders and engineering manufacturers are governed by law there are several other sectors proving keen to incorporate high visibility requirements into their workwear to save on costs as well as making a strong statement about safety,” says Richard. “Because of all the clothing manufacturers and distributors that we’re working with, we can advise on what’s available, the different cost options and then put together embroidered workwear packages that work for the business whatever the industry or time of year.”

How it Performed as My Hi Vis Cycling Jacket in a Gloomy Damp Cumbria Autumn

We’ve been using this lightweight training or bike jacket for riding this autumn. So far we haven’t had downpours but in light rain & drizzle it’s been ideal. We’ve had no sign of leakage at the seams. The high neck guard & storm flap have turned away everything that’s been thrown at it.

The zipped cycle  pocket is a little smaller than ideal for gloved hands at this time of year but the zip does add to security & repels water! The front pockets, zipped again, are covered by storm flaps so no problems there either.

There’s a vented area (and again it’s storm flap covered)  at the shoulders which is ideal for keeping cool when putting some effort in.

As usual with lightweight training / shower jackets of this kind care should be taken with the inner storm flap around the zip – it’s too easy to get it snagged when fastening.

The “Saturn Yellow” finish helps to make this a very reasonable hi vis cycling jacket, always important at this time of year if you are on the roads in evening or early morning gloom. However, the reflective piping isn’t that visible for night time running, walking or biking.

All in all a great cost effective solution for the active life style. Call us on 016973 43546 or use our contact page to send an enquiry.
